Melvin A. Rubin

Mel Rubin is a trainer, adjunct professor, mediator and lawyer based in Miami, Florida. Mr. Rubin has mediated and arbitrated several thousand diverse ADR cases, including space satellite disputes, cigar band infringements, intergenerational family business disputes, and class actions. He prefers the unique and challenging conflicts. Mr. Rubin and Mediation Services, Inc., his firm, have also been privileged to train over 7,000 professionals in ADR in Europe, South America and the Caribbean over a 25 year period in all areas of civil, family and other unique areas of ADR training.

He has helped design training programs and provided the training for a variety of disaster mediation programs, including hurricanes Andrew (1992), Ivan, Charles, Frances, Jeanne, Wilma and Katrina.  Mr. Rubin was instrumental in bringing the first international training for international custody cases in the United States.  He has had the honor of training professionals and individuals from every discipline and walk of life including former Chief Justices of the State of Florida as well as teachers and grade school students. Mr. Rubin was a trainer and lecturer for two years in ADR, Negotiation and Mediation in Rome in 2004 and 2005. Mr. Rubin is also a trainer and ADR Specialist for John Hancock Insurance Co., Prudential Life Insurance Company, Department of Insurance, State of Florida and Collins Center for Public Policy in reference to major national class action. He has done major facilitations, including the Children’s Summit of over 250 attendees.

Mr. Rubin lectures and writes extensively on cutting edge ADR topics, including mediator malpractice and collaborative lawyering. Mr. Rubin’s appearances on the west coast will be limited so it is our suggestion that you take advantage when he visits, trains and lectures.

Currently, Mr. Rubin is teaching Mediation and Negotiation Ethics, Mediating Mortgage Foreclosures, Post-Disaster Mediation Training for the AIM Institute.
