Our trainer, Lee Jay Berman commentary:

We volunteer and we gripe.  We go to “networking” events, and don’t feel comfortable there or don’t know what to do.  Many of those trying to establish a career in mediation come from prior careers in law, mental health or education.  These three careers are among the weakest at marketing and self-promotion.  Our industry suffers unnecessarily because so many are highly skilled at mediating, and yet lack the skills that enable them to secure the opportunity to actually mediate.  In this course, learn how to grow your mediation business starting tomorrow.  After one day, you'll have your own specific formula for success so you can grow your mediation practice now!  Isn't your mediation career worth a day of your time?

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and to take precautionary measures, our office and services have become virtually available for our staff, clients, and students.

What people have said about Lee Jay:

"When mediators speak candidly, our daily struggles revolve less around ADR techniques than around understanding the work of effectively marketing and organizing our individual business models. The tools provided in Lee Jay's course have been instrumental game changers for me in actualizing the growth of my private practice so that I can do what I actually want to do - mediate."
- Arianna Jeret, MA/MSW, Mediator, The Agency for Dispute Resolution

About your trainers:

Lee Jay Berman began as a full-time mediator over 27 years ago,  and has successfully mediated over 2,400 matters.  He is on the American Arbitration Association’s elite Master Mediator panel for employment matters,  and is a national panelist on AAA’s commercial and construction panels.  He is a Distinguished Fellow with the International Academy of Mediators, and a Charter Diplomat with the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN).  He was Mediator of the Year for the US Bankruptcy Court in California, California’s Daily Journal twice named him “Top Neutral”.  Also a respected trainer,  he founded the American Institute of Mediation,  leaving his position as Director of Pepperdine Law School’s "Mediating the Litigated Case" program after seven years.  SCMA awarded him the Randolph Lowry Award for his work in advancing the education in the mediation field,  and in 2017 the NADN awarded him “Distinguished Neutral of the Year in Recognition of Excellence in ADR Training”.   Lee Jay has trained judges,  attorneys and business leaders in India,  Australia,  New Zealand and throughout Europe and the Middle East.  The ABA is publishing two of his books in 2022.

Sonia Patel Dalton entered the ADR field over 20 years ago, having held Assistant and Business Manager Positions at JAMS—the nation’s largest ADR firm.  Later, she was tapped to spearhead the development and launch of a boutique dispute resolution firm, PMA Dispute Resolution, with several offices throughout California and Nevada.   Having successfully launched a new firm coupled with her history and understanding of what it takes to run a large ADR firm, Ms. Patel Dalton has shifted her focus to consulting with neutrals on how to launch and manage successful ADR practices. From creating the basic infrastructure to retention and growth of existing, seasoned ADR Firms, Sonia has the expertise, passion and tenacity to build and exceed growth and revenue expectations.  Sonia has learned that to have a successful ADR practice, you must not only be a good mediator, but you must also be a good business person. Often, time, effort and resources are invested in becoming a better mediator without the same investment on the business/administrative side. She often presents on effective ways to manage and build your mediation practice.  Sonia graduated from UCSB and received her law degree and certificate in dispute resolution from Willamette University.

Kristen Marquis Dennis, the founder of WebPresence, Esq., an online marketing agency for the legal industry, is a licensed attorney who works with lawyers, mediators, and businesses in the legal space to build their online presence.  Through strategic, thoughtful branding and marketing, Kristen and her team ensure that you are top of mind when it comes time to retain a mediator. Kristen understands how to build an ethical, effective marketing campaign for your practice.
