About the Vice-President, Jack R. Goetz, Ph.D., Esq.                                                                     Jack Goetz Head Shot

Dr. Goetz comes to the American Institute of Mediation after having created and serving as the Academic Lead for the California State University at Northridge (CSUN) certificate program in Mediation and Conflict Resolution, founded in 2009.  Prior to developing the CSUN program, Dr. Goetz was the founding Dean and President of Concord Law School (1997-2004), the first nationally accredited online law school. In 2002.  Dr. Goetz’s contributions to the field of distance education were recognized with the presentation of the Distance Education and Training Council’s (DETC) Distinguished Recognition Award.   He also spent 20 years in the bar review field as a lecturer and executive in Bar/Bri bar review and Barpassers.   Dr. Goetz currently serves the DETC as an accreditation expert and educational evaluator.

He received his B.A. in Economics at San Diego State University, his J.D. at Boston University, his M.B.A. at Pepperdine University, and his Ph.D. in Education at Capella University.   He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar, the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, a member of the Southern California Mediation Association since 2007, and a member of the State Bar of California since 1979.   In recognition of his work at CSUN and the Los Angeles Superior Court, he was awarded the Alternative Dispute Resolution department’s “Volunteer of the Year” award in 2012.

Dr. Goetz serves as a member of the Executive Committee, as well as an arbitrator and mediator, for the Los Angeles County Bar Association Attorney-Client Mediation and Arbitration Services.  He is also as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Association (FINRA), and a mediator for the Ventura County Superior Court.   Dr. Goetz has served on the Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA) Education Foundation Board since 2012, and co-chairs the SCMA ad hoc committee on voluntary mediator certification.  He has two grown children in the Los Angeles area, and lives with his wife, Jennifer Kalfsbeek, Ph.D., Assistant Dean at Tseng College at CSUN, and his stepdaughter in Agoura Hills, California.
